Jen Allman, owner of Sips Coffee Truck, and Eva Bennett, local potter behind Eva Throws, are looking forward to hosting their first handmade market this winter. Simply Kin Market’s Winter Solstice Pop-Up will take place on the Armory Lawn in downtown Marietta on December 21st, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm.

“Through both of our creative endeavors, Eva and I have met the most amazing artists in this community,” said Jen. “It’s felt almost like meeting an underground circle of creatives that are insanely talented.”

Eva said it seemed that many of the artists they met had little opportunity to share their craft with the larger community. “We wanted to create a space where they are comfortable and free to share what it is that drives them. So, SimplyKin Market was born, our hope is that this market shakes things up, and brings a fresh perspective on how to intertwine the creative spirit in our area and the community that surrounds it.”

After days of brainstorming on a name, Jen said it came to them serendipitously. “We were both stopped dead in our tracks. Simply Kin perfectly describes both of our perspectives and experiences on family and friends. Having unique families and being in the community each day, interacting with so many different folks and feeling connection with each and every one of them has only reinforced to us that we are all just Simply Kin. We want our market to reflect that — love and support for our neighbor, their craft, their talent and their passion.”

Eva said she hopes Simply Kin is unique in that they’re always rooting for people to success and hope to give a space and voice to artists around that maybe haven’t always gotten the opportunity to be showcased.

“We are hoping shoppers have a truly unique shopping experience, they will be able to get their last-minute holiday hair cut, family pictures (to take home!), shop for last-minute gifts all while listening to local musicians singing holiday tunes and sipping on the yummiest drinks around.”

The outdoor market has all the makings of a Hallmark moment. Jen and Eva envision a magical winter wonderland.

“Think warm glowing lights all around, vendors with the best handcrafted presents, coffee and food trucks with the most delicious treats, professional pictures, live music, and the big tree! The perfect evening to spend with your family and friends in downtown Marietta.”

Simply Kin’s debut market will feature 21 vendors, each carefully selected to bring the community a variety of unique handmade items. You can follow Simply Kin Market on Facebook and Instagram where they are announcing the lineup!

The duo said they are already excited for 2024, they have some things up their sleeves. So be sure to save the date for December 21st for the Winter Solstice Pop-Up!
