Together We Create a Colorful Community

If you’ve stopped by the shop this week, you may have noticed fresh color in our front windows! We are excited to share that we commissioned a fun, vibrant typography mural from local artist and illustrator Alix Northrup. The message “Together we create a colorful community” is one that speaks to our mission and celebrates the wonderful creative community here in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Alix partnered with local designer Jordana Bungard to trace the design on the walls using the prick and pounce method. “Prick and Pounce” is a method of transferring a design by using a pattern that is pricked with tiny holes, placed on the surface, and then pounced all over with a chalk powder that filters into the tiny holes, leaving a dotted chalk outline.

After tracing, Alix began filling in the typographic mural with paint. The hand-painted mural was completed in just under a week! Alix’s colorful design fills both windows, with the fun text and shapes splashing life onto the walls of the shop.

As an art collective that hosts solo-exhibits and live music, it is our hope that Clutch Collective becomes a third place - a place visitors can enjoy even if they are not purchasing anything, to view local and regional art and get to know our creative community.

The message of “Together we create a colorful community” is one of creativity and inclusivity, reinforcing that our community is welcoming and a place for creativity to thrive and that all of us contribute to making our community a better, more vibrant place.
